💟 Born in Brazil, creating worldwide
Luwena Saimon is a visual artist and illustrator specializing in traditional watercolor on paper. Her work explores the emotional bond between humans and the natural world, through a whimsical, storybook aesthetic.
Working with layers of watercolor, she focuses on animals with distinct human traits, bringing a sense of cozy vulnerability and narrative to her pieces. Beyond standalone paintings, her heart is in storytelling. She is currently developing her first original character (OC) and documenting the process behind the scenes—building toward her main focus: illustrating children’s books that make the world a little softer.
At the end of the day, the philosophy is simple: she paints animals for the animals.
Her work is rooted in a deep love for the living world—from domestic pets to wildlife. One of her biggest goals is to use her art and financial independence to actively support animal rescue organizations and sanctuaries.
When she paints pets, she does it to preserve their spirits in artwork made to outlast us all, holding onto them even if their time with us is far too short. (And yes, she also paints dinosaurs—because they’re endlessly fun, and rules are boring).
Her connection to animals extends to the places they call home, painting landscapes to capture the feeling of a specific space and story. As a lifelong language lover, she approaches new places by immersing herself in their culture. She is fluent in Portuguese and English, keeping her Korean alive, learning Irish, and maintaining a very healthy, ongoing beef with French.
When you support this studio, you aren't just buying paper and paint. You are backing a life dedicated to authentic storytelling, animal advocacy, cultural curiosity, and creation without permission.
